Attendance & Tardy Policies
Attendance is critical to student success. Please read the attached Excerpts and Summaries of Nevada Laws on Attendance for more information. Students and parents may turn in attendance notes to the Fertitta Middle School Attendance Clerk, Ms. Rosalyn Herbert, in the registration office.
Additionally, Clark County School District Regulation 5113 provides more clarification on attendance enforcement.
Students who have an excess of ten (10) absences in a single semester, may be denied course credit.
Standard Student Attire (SSA) Policy:
If students are not in SSA clothing, students will be sent to the Student Support Services office and provided an approved SSA clothing item to change into. Students will not be permitted to call home to request a change of clothes to be dropped off. We aim to limit the disruption to learning and have students change and return to their classes. If students refuse to change into the SSA-approved clothing provided to them, they will be placed on a Required Parent Conference (RPC).
School-wide tardy policy:
A key component of success in school involves attending class on time. All students are expected to be in their classroom before the tardy bell. Tardiness disrupts the learning of other students and your child's learning. Fertitta has tardy lockouts every day, every class period. The tardy policy will be implemented as outlined below:
Tardy to class = 1 lunch detention
Progressive discipline will continue if your student fails to attend their assigned lunch detention.
Failure to attend lunch detention = 1 assigned after-school detention. (Notifications will be distributed during the last period of the day of missed lunch detention)
Failure to attend after-school detention = one day In House Suspension.
Cell Phones/Earbuds
Cell phones are not permitted in hallways, classrooms
Cell phone use is only allowed in the quad before school, after school, and during lunch (no cameras-photos or video in order to protect student privacy)
Earbuds are only allowed in a classroom when a teacher has instructed students to use them.
Earbuds should not be worn around campus.
